To sit peacefully as well as engaged with the surrounding Australian Landscape.
MATERIALS
Design Foundry’s underlying principle of using natural materials is expressed in the straw bale walls which are beautifully rendered. Exposed concrete flooring, honed to display the aggregate, enhances the natural living principles.
Timber finishes add warmth to the home. Note the kerfed timber skirting that beautifully hugs the straw bale walls.
SITING
A home set into the beautiful eucalypt forests of the southern tablelands.
A modest rural home for an extended family.
LAYOUT
A simple cruciform design, extends the northern exposure for living spaces , as well as bedrooms. Utilities and bathroom are to the southern wing.
